Paula Brooks

3rd Dan (Child Welfare Officer)

Having introduced my twin sons to karate at the tender age of 5, I watched them develop and grow in confidence and ability really quickly.  Under the careful supervision of Senseis Keith and Kevin, it was a proud moment to watch my children take part in competitions, gradings and represent the Chelmsford clubs at national events.  I decided early on that I wanted to be a part of the GKI Karate family – to get fitter, gain confidence and make new friends for myself. With this goal in mind, I went on to gain my Black Belt aged 45, and my 2nd Dan 3 years later.  I love to help teach the younger students (and the older ones!) and am also the Chelmsford Child Welfare Officer – karate has opened up a whole new set of experiences, opportunities and friendships that I would otherwise never have had.  I encourage anyone to come along and have a go – you never know where it will take you !

About Us

We practise traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu, which focuses on effective close-quarters fighting. We enjoy tournaments, but believe that the true heart of karate is self defence.
